Clean & Safe Certificate – Coronavirus (Covid-19) Outbreak

LBV House Hotel was certified with the “Clean and Safe” seal, by “Turismo de Portugal”, since we comply with the requirements and guidelines defined by the National Health Organization. To avoid risks We developed and internal protocol that defines all procedures to prevent and control any possible infections.

 

Individual protection:

 
  • Wash hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use hand disinfectant containing at least 70% alcohol, covering all surfaces of the hands and rubbing them until dry.
 
  • Cough or sneeze into the flexed forearm or use a tissue, which should then be immediately disposed of; Always clean hands after coughing or sneezing and after blowing; Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth with hands.
 
  • Change the frequency and form of contact between employees and guests, avoiding (when possible) close contact, handshaking, kissing, shared workplaces, face-to-face meetings and sharing food, utensils, cups and towels.
 
  • Daily self-monitoring for fever assessment (measuring body temperature and recording the value and time of measurement), cough check or difficulty in breathing.
 
  • The staff´s uniforms will not be taken to wash at home – it must be washed in the unit's laundry at high temperatures.
 
 

The hotel will:

 
  • Display, throughout the hotel, information on respiratory etiquette.
 
  • Display in a visible location with non-conditioned access, the local emergency contacts, such as firefighters, Police and SNS 24 line.
 
  • All employees have received specific information and training on how to proceed in case of suspected infection. All staff members are responsible for starting the correct procedures (accompanying the person with symptoms to the isolation room, provide the necessary assistance and contact the national health service).
 
  • Any staff member that shows any symptoms associated with Covid-19, must go to the previously stipulated isolation room and follow all the procedures defined for suspected cases of infection. 
 
  • All emplyees, as well as the guests (during the check-in), will be informed of all the places, in the hotel, where they can find kits to desinfect their hands.
 
  • Our guests will be previously informed about all the procesures and new rules that the hotel has applied.
 
  • It is advised that all guest wear masks, specially when using the comon spaces of the hotel.
 
  • The jacuzzi is closed.
 
  • The breakfast room will have limited access, with fewer seats available, and will be organized so it is possible to keep the recommended social distance. It is mandatory to disinfect your hands before entering the breakfast room.
 
 

The hotel ensures:

 

  • Personal protective equipment for all empolyees.
     
  • Personal protection equipment available for customers (available for sale/to buy – maximum capacity of the hotel).
     
  • Alcohol-based antiseptic or alcohol-based solution dispensers near the entry/exit points, in all the floors, at the entrance to the breakfast saloon, bar and common sanitary facilities.
     
  • Isolation room for people that may be detected as suspect or confirmed cases of COVID-19.
     
  • Sanitary facilities with hand washing equipment with liquid soap and paper towels.
     
  • Cleaning equipment recommended by the National Health Organization for the safe practice of the tasks of the Housekeeping department.
     
  • The disinfection of the swimmingpool (performed as defined in internal protocol) and the acess to it will only be allowed if the National Health Organization allows it.
 

The cleaning and sanitization protocol guarantees:

 
  • Washing and disinfection according to the internal protocol of the surfaces where employees and guests circulate, ensuring the control and prevention of infections and resistance to antimicrobials.
 
  • Cleaning, several times a day, of surfaces and objects of common use (including counters, light and lift switches, handles, and cabinet knobs).
 
  • Preference is given to wet cleaning rather than dry cleaning and the use of vacuum cleaners.
 
  • Air renewal in rooms and enclosed spaces is done regularly (doors and windows will be open, at least 3 times a day, during 15 minuts or more).
 
  • To comply with the guidelines of the National Health Organization for surface cleaning and treatment of clothes in the hotel.
 
 

Housekeeping guidelines:

 
  • The cleaning of the rooms will happen in two steps: First all the linen will be removed from the room and then the room will be disinfected and cleaned. Between these two tasks there will be a rest time.
     
  • It is necessary to provide to all the housekeeping staff: Non-sterile gloves; Protective goggles; Respiratory protection mask; Overall.
     
  • To remove the linen from the rooms, the following rules must be followed: Do not shake/flip the bedding; Remove it without shaking it, rolling it from the inside to the outside, making a "package"; Do not lean them against your body; Put them directly in the washing machine.
     
  • The linen must be washed at the highest temperature possible (depending on the thermal resistance).
     
  • The waste collected in the room, must be packed in a bag tightly closed, which is then deposited in a 2nd bag.
     
  • Wet cleaning is always preferable to dry cleaning. Do not use a vacuum cleaner to clean floors.
     
  • If blood, respiratory secretions or other organic fluids are found: Absorb the fluids with absorbent paper; Apply the bleach diluted in water; Leave to act for 10 minutes; Clean again with water and detergent; Rinse only with hot water; Allow to air dry.
     
  • For the daily disinfection of surfaces: Wash first with water and detergent; Apply the bleach diluted in water; Leave the bleach to act for 10 minutes; Rinse only with hot water and allow to air dry.
     
  • Sanitary facilities must be washed and disinfected with a mixed cleaning product that contains both detergent and disinfectant in the composition, as it is easier and faster to apply.

  • Furniture and some equipment can be disinfected after cleaning, with wipes moistened with disinfectant or alcohol at 70º. Clean the bedroom furniture first: cleaning and disinfecting cabinets, countertops, tables and chairs, not forgetting to disinfect cabinet and door handles; then clean and disinfect the tap, washbasin and drain.

  • Clean the walls up to arm's length.

  • Bathrooms: Wash the bathroom, starting with the taps, washbasins and drains, then move on to the furniture, then the bath or shower, toilet and bidet;
    ​​​​​​​
  • Toilet: Apply the product that has the function of detergent and disinfectant simultaneously, inside and outside of the toilet; Leave the product to act for 10 minutes to make the desired effect; Rub well with the toilet brush; Flush the water with the toilet brush still inside the toilet so that it is also cleaned; Drain the toilet brush; Wash and disinfect the toilet brush holder.

  • External part of the toilet: With another clean single-use cloth, wash the external part of the toilet, starting with the top (the least dirty), followed by the top part of the toilet and all the exterior parts with the same detergent / disinfectant, then rinse only with hot water and let it dry.

  • Finally, wash the floor of the toillet. Open the windows and let it air dry.

Procedures in case of suspicion of infection in a guest:

 
  • If a guest shows symptoms he/she must not leave the hotel.
     
  • Any guest with signs and symptoms of COVID-19, or who identifies another customer with criteria compatible with the definition of suspected case, must inform the Reception by telephone.
     
  • Do not go to the health center, private medical office or the hospital emergency room;
     
  • In case that the guest is in his room at the time his symptoms start, he must remain in the room, which will work as an isolation room.
     
  • If, instead, the client is not in his room, then he must be moved to the isolation room.
     
  • If the suspected case is a customer, the hotel should contact SNS 24 (808 24 24 24).
     
  • Wait for the instructions and the clinical decision of the health professionals who will assist you.
     
  • The SNS 24 health professional will ask about signs and symptoms and epidemiological link compatible with a suspected case of COVID-19. After evaluation, the SNS 24 informs about the validation or not validation of the case.
     
  • After evaluation, if the SNS 24 informs about the non-validation, the hotel must inform the guest of this non-validation.
     
  • After evaluation, if the SNS 24 informs about the validation of the case, the DGS activates INEM, the National Health Institute Doutor Ricardo Jorge and the Regional Health Authority, starting the epidemiological investigation and the necessary contacts.
     
  • The sick guest must remain in the isolation room (with a surgical mask, as long as his clinical condition permits), until the arrival of the team from the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM), activated by DGS, which ensures transportation to the designated hospital;
     
  • Other clients or workers are not allowed into the isolation room (except for the worker designated to provide assistance);
     
  • The isolation room must be closed until the decontamination (cleaning and disinfection) is validated by the Local Health Authority. This ban can only be lifted by the Health Authority.
     
  • All individuals who may have had contact with the infected guest must be warned.
 
 

The Isolation Room has the following characteristics:

 
  • Natural ventilation and / or mechanical ventilation system;
     
  • Smooth and washable coatings;
     
  • Sanitary installation for exclusive use, located inside the isolation room;
     
  • Phone;
     
  • Chairs and bed;
     
  • Kit with water and non-perishable food items;
     
  • Waste container (with non-manual opening and plastic bag);
     
  • Alcohol-based antiseptic solution (inside the room);
     
  • Stock of cleaning materials for single use, proportional to the room size;
     
  • Disposable mask(s);
     
  • Disposable gloves;
     
  • Thermometer;
